A survey aimed at generating reliable and comprehensive economic data for Katsina State has commenced.
The 2024/2025 SGDP survey is expected to cover major sectors of the state’s economy, providing comprehensive and up-to-date data that will strengthen economic analysis, attract investment, and promote sustainable development in Katsina State.
To Achieve the objective, the Katsina State Bureau of Statistics (KTSBS) has commenced field operations for the 2024/2025 State Gross Domestic Product (SGDP), with the deployment of enumerators across the 34 local government areas of the State.
At an event to commence the exercise materials, the State’s Statistician-General, Saifullahi Sani Matazu, described the SGDP survey as a very strategic initiative aimed at generating reliable and comprehensive economic data for the state.
While distributing the survey materials at the Bureau’s headquarters in Katsina, the Statistician-General, noted that the survey will serve as a critical instrument for measuring the overall economic performance of Katsina State, providing credible statistics to support evidence-based planning, budgeting, and policy formulation.
According to him, the data generated from the exercise will offer detailed insights into key sectors of the state’s economy, thereby strengthening government decision-making processes while enhancing transparency in development planning.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, for his sustained support toward institutionalising a robust statistical system in the state and ensuring the successful implementation of the SGDP survey.
“The SGDP survey is vital to the socio-economic advancement of Katsina State. Its outcome will guide government, development partners, and investors in making informed and strategic decisions,” he stated.
Matazu further urged the enumerators to uphold professionalism, integrity, and diligence in the discharge of their responsibilities.
